Scientific collaboration is at an all-time high. That’s appreciated.
Scientists are working OVERTIME on every angle of COVID19 and across the globe. There is tons of collaboration happening, some competition (which I appreciate- it moves science forward faster). It’s pretty extraordinary to witness, and I like being able to easily access and think through the newest clinical reports, the newest science. This pre-peer reviewed preprint.org look at medicinal plant inhibition of a COVID19 protease out of Indonesia is an example. Yes, it needs to go through peer review, but we can get a jump on considering these interventions given their long use histories and previous investigations. Another example is NEJM- much of their COVID19 content is available, too. I found this report which first mapped the genome of the then-unnamed bat-to-human virus and characterized the variant symptom picture of the first family infected to be illuminating, also.
The caveat is that we don’t know how this is all going to shake out in the end- what will be identified as useful, what won’t. But I appreciate getting to think through how we might approach this deadly pandemic now, when we might be able to save lives.
