This is based on a collective meta-analysis of group data from Wuhan, China reported in the European Heart Journal. This had previously been a potential concern since these medications also affect the route of entry of the virus into cells.
Early indications suggest that these medications may instead lower the severity of COVID-19 in those with high blood pressure, but clinical trials are needed before that can be confirmed, according to physicians at the Yale School of Medicine.
